Article 55(15) of Ghana's Constitution states that only a citizen of Ghana may contribute or donate to a political party registered in Ghana.

Section 23 of the Political Parties Act, 2000 (Act 574) provides that a citizen may contribute cash or in kind. For purposes of that provision, certain citizen-owned firms, partnerships or enterprises and Ghana-registered companies with at least 75% Ghanaian ownership of capital are treated as citizens.
